Adjustable width and angle to fit all mountain bikes

The Shotgun seat is adjustable to fit all regular mountain bikes, no matter the shape of your frame.

Full rubber frame protection

With moulded rubber protection for your bike, the Shotgun seat is suitable for use on alloy and carbon frames.

Easy installation and removal

With no modification to your bike required, the Shotgun seat is simple to fit and remove.

Will the Shotgun seat fit my bike?

The Shotgun seat fits all modern mountain bikes – including bikes with steep, sloping or tapered top tubes.

The Shotgun seat does not fit electric bikes, road/gravel bikes, cruiser & step through frame bikes, or older mountain bikes with cables along the top of the top tube.

The shotgun seat has a range of adjustment to fit top tubes from 30 – 68mm wide, and down tubes from 30 – 100mm wide.

Design & Innovation Award Winner

We’re stoked to have received a Design & Innovation Award for the Shotgun seat. This award is both a benchmark and a seal of approval for the most outstanding products within the cycling world.

“The jury is unanimous. There’s no better first step into the world of mountain biking than the Kids Ride Shotgun child seat.”

“What better way to spend time with your little one than by going for a bike ride? The Kids ride Shotgun Seat mounts to the top tube of your MTB so you can still enjoy the trails if your kid is not old enough to ride themselves!”

– Neil Donoghue, GMBN

“Moving your child to the front of the bike helps keeps them safer, but it also keeps them more engaged on the bike. You can talk to your kid while riding, checking in to make sure they’re still having fun.”

– Terry McKall, Canadian MTB

FAQ

A: We don’t recommend using the Shotgun seat on bikes without front suspension as there is insufficient clearance between the front wheel and your child’s feet when turning the front wheel

A: The shotgun seat isn’t suitable for use on E-bikes. If you’re riding an E-bike check out the “Shotgun Pro”

A: The shotgun seat contacts the frame in 5 places, each one of these locations has full rubber-moulded frame protection. Sharing the load across these locations helps to minimise the clamping force required, and the rubber protection means your frame is safe from damage or scratching.

A: The shotgun seat fits all mountain bikes, even those with steep or sloping top tubes. If the seat is slipping back, then remove the saddle, the foot-pegs and the quick release – and be sure to firmly clamp the top at the same time as tightening the bolt inside the seat-post. You’ll only need to do this when you first setup the shotgun seat, see 0:30 in our installation video. If you’re still having trouble, we recommend inserting the quick release into the top slot (rather than further down) as this helps to add more tension, stopping the seat from slipping back.

A: If the saddle is twisting left and right, but the bolts that tighten the saddle itself are firmly tightened – it will actually be the silver seat post that is rotating. To fix this, remove the saddle, the foot-pegs and the quick release – and then ensure you firmly clamp the top at the same time as tightening the bolt inside the seat-post. You’ll only need to do this when you first setup the shotgun seat, see 0:32 in our installation video above.
